The Brazilian National Institute of Fashion and Design, along with Luminosidade, the group behind Fashion Rio and São Paulo Fashion Week, have announced launched Movimento HotSpot, a nationwide search for new talent in areas such as photography, illustration, graphic design, architecture, set design, music, film, beauty and fashion.
Through a new online network at movimentohotspot.com, people from all over the country will be able to sign up and share their work and ideas. A group of curators will then select the most promising entries and travel to 17 capitals across Brazil to meet with the talent and help them further develop their work for a series of presentations held in 10 different cities.
A panel of judges will select a group of finalists, who will be given further mentoring in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro to compete for the final prizes. The winner of each of the eleven categories will be awarded a R$ 10K prize. The talent with the best overall idea will also be awarded R$ 200K to bring his idea to life and into the marketplace, and the winner of the fashion category will receive a cash prize of R$ 150K to develop a collection to be presented at SPFW or Fashion Rio. The winners will be announced in February of next year, and applications can be submitted online until May 15.
